Early on Saturday morning, whilst on the drive to Mammoth mountain for some late spring snowboard carving with some of the WaveMaster USA team riders, my cell phone rings & a familiar voice yells "Boon's done it again"! Just past midnight on Saturday in Australia, the results & award ceremony was under way & the results of the Open Final were being made & relayed to me in real-time thousands of miles away ! Nik Boon wins the Australian Waveski Championships that were held at Lake Tabourie, on the south coast of New South Wales. With plenty of DOH surf conditions, well suited for Nik's feared get-air attacks, he flew himself to victory & defended his 2002 title in fine style, by taking out the 2002 world waveski champion. With Kane Duncan in 2001 & Nik Boon's back-to-back
titles, 2002 & 2003, WaveMaster makes it three in a row ! Kane &
Nik surf the WaveMaster Customer waveski, with the wing & swallow
tail design. Congratulations to the W/M Australia Team ! Video will be

competitors from as far as Florida & New Jersey made the trip to be

During the World Wavesi Titles in Australia, the World Waveski Association elected WaveMaster USA Team Rider Steven Moser as vice president for the term 2002 - 2004. His focus will be on marketing & public relations. Steven contributes both as an athlete and as a spokes - person for the sport & his involvement with developing & training existing riders & exposing the sport to main stream publications, TV shows & media, has already proven to be a winning combination. Waveski's
get the nod from Rolling Stone as an X-treme sport
Rolling Stone, Issue 895, pages 51-57, May 2002 ran a special feature report on extreme sports, called: "X Sports, The World's Sickest Athletes" the report covers various extreme "Edge" Sports & athletes. Some of the featured sports are: Quarterpipe Snowboarding, Foiling, Annual Tex-Games, Freestyle Motocross, Skiercross & waveskiing. WaveMaster USA team rider & 2002 U.S. West Coast Champ, S.Moser is featured on page 57 throwing a big inverted aerial at a local California beach, along with a cool & "edgy" article. The entire WaveMaster team are stoked that Rolling Stone identified & selected waveskiing as a featured extreme sport in the magazine.

USA team rider S. Moser secures 2nd place in the West Coast Six Series
Paddle-Surf Championships 2001-2002. With a win a the seasons major event,
West Coast Waveski titles in Ventura earlier this year & a 2nd position
at the season's ending event in San Diego, 13/14th April 2002 this was
quite an achievement, as he only competed in two of the six events, due
to international waveski events/commitments.
The WaveMaster crew & team riders are now looking forward to attending & competing at the World Waveski Championships, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, June 8th - 16th 2002.

WaveMaster's
team rider, Nick Boon accomplished a unique double victory at the Australian
waveski Championships 2002 on Philip Island, Victoria, Australia. Nick
won two 1st places in two categories: Open (all ages) & New age (20-29).
It was his 2nd Australian championship after 1999. This was the year Nick
also placed 1st at the world titles in Brazil. The New Age division was
held for the 2nd consecutive year & is now a featured event at all international
events as well. Kevin Marshal, on a W/M Custom & longtime team rider, won
the Master's (40-49). They were both surfing the new designed WaveMaster
Custom waveski, featuring the new designed wings & swallow tail.

Team rider, Steven Moser wins the 2002 West Coast Waveski Championships,
held in Ventura California in Feb '02. At the 2001 event, he secured a
2nd place. Eliminating tough competition in perfect to challenging conditions
during the event, made the final result even more of a success. Specific
competition training & surf tuition during the weeks leading up to the
event were vital components in securing this elusive title.

team rider Kane Duncan finishes a strong 2nd (silver medal) at the World
Waveski Championships "Open Division" in Bakio Spain. Earlier in '01 he
secured 1st place at the Australian Titles. This was Kane's first appearance
at a world championships venue & his first international event. Also securing
a medal at the world titles, in the Master's division, was Bill Luhrs,
(California) from the WaveMaster team.

team riders from Europe, USA & Australia flew in from all corners to meet
up on the south Atlantic French coast, in the "Aquitaine & Les Landes"
regions for an intense & fun waveski training camp, with emphasis on compeition
surfing. The training camp was designed & put together by WaveMaster as
a team event, thus leading up to the World Waveski Championships, which
were held in Bakio the following week. Please check back in for pics &

is adding two new sizes to the evolution model. The evolution has been
a huge success, especially in America. The two sizes are yet to be determined,
but rumors are that WaveMaster will add a smaller ladies version 2.2M/7'2".
This will accomodate a rider up to 175 lbs. A larger version is on the
designing table, 2.7M/8'9". This ski will be able to accomodate a rider
up to 280 lbs. Scheduled release date: T.B.D (late '00).
